Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has shared a positive update following her cervical cancer diagnosis earlier this year. The Jersey Shore star says she is currently cancer-free after undergoing a hysterectomy in July.
Polizzi, 38, discussed her health journey in a new interview with PEOPLE published September 18. She said doctors were able to remove the cancer and that she is now focused on recovering and taking better care of her health.
The update comes nearly seven months after Polizzi publicly revealed that she had been diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer.
Snooki Says She Is Cancer-Free
Polizzi told PEOPLE that she is currently cancer-free following her treatment.
The reality television personality underwent a hysterectomy on July 31 as part of her treatment. She said she is grateful that the procedure removed the cancer and that she feels she is finally moving beyond one of the most difficult periods of her life.
However, Polizzi made clear that her recovery is still ongoing.
She said she is learning to pay closer attention to her body instead of pushing herself too hard. Some days, doing too much leaves her exhausted and dealing with pain.
Despite those challenges, she said she is beginning to feel more like herself again.
Her Cervical Cancer Diagnosis Came After Delayed Screening
Polizzi first announced her stage 1 cervical cancer diagnosis on February 20, 2026.
At the time, she revealed that testing following abnormal Pap results and a cone biopsy had led to the diagnosis of cervical adenocarcinoma. She also spoke openly about having delayed routine screening before eventually seeking medical care.
Her experience became an important part of the way she discussed her health publicly.
Rather than keeping the diagnosis private, Polizzi shared updates with followers about her appointments, procedures and eventual surgery.
She has repeatedly encouraged women to stay on top of their recommended health screenings.
Snooki Is Still Being Monitored
Although Polizzi says she is cancer-free, her medical journey is not simply over.
According to her latest PEOPLE interview, doctors told her there is still a possibility that the cancer could return. As a result, she plans to remain closely monitored and said she will have Pap smears every three months as directed by her doctors.
Her personal follow-up schedule should not be treated as a general screening recommendation. Cervical cancer surveillance varies depending on a person’s diagnosis, treatment history and other medical factors.
For people at average risk, the CDC says HPV and Pap testing can help prevent cervical cancer or detect it early. The American Cancer Society also recommends regular cervical cancer screening, with the specific test and interval depending on the individual’s circumstances.
The Jersey Shore Star Is Changing Her Approach to Health
Polizzi said the diagnosis changed the way she thinks about her overall health.
She told PEOPLE that she is eating better, exercising and keeping up with her medical appointments. Most importantly, she said she is no longer avoiding health concerns or putting off appointments.
That change comes after what she described as a frightening and lengthy process.
Her treatment involved multiple medical procedures before she ultimately underwent the hysterectomy in July. In August, she also shared an emotional look at her recovery, including details about the surgery and the support she received from her family.
Snooki Wants Other Women to Feel Less Alone
Polizzi has also focused on the emotional side of her experience.
When she first received her diagnosis, she said she felt alone because she did not personally know anyone going through cervical cancer.
Opening up publicly changed that.
Through social media, she has connected with women who have experienced cervical cancer, hysterectomies and similar health challenges. She said those conversations have created a supportive community where women can share their experiences.
That support has become one of the more meaningful parts of her recovery.
She Is Also Supporting Cancer Awareness
Polizzi’s health advocacy is now extending beyond her own social media accounts.
She is partnering with F Cancer, a nonprofit focused on cancer awareness, early detection and prevention. According to PEOPLE, Polizzi is scheduled to host the organisation’s 100th event on September 23 in Los Angeles.
For Polizzi, the event offers an opportunity to meet people who have faced different types of cancer and learn more about their experiences.
What Snooki’s Health Update Means Now
For now, Polizzi is celebrating being cancer-free while continuing to recover from major surgery and follow her doctors’ monitoring plan.
Her story also highlights why cervical cancer screening matters. The CDC notes that HPV and Pap tests can help identify cervical changes before they develop into cancer or detect cervical cancer early.
The American Cancer Society similarly explains that regular screening can find precancerous changes and help prevent cervical cancer from developing.
Polizzi’s experience has therefore become more than a personal health update. She has used it to encourage her followers to take medical appointments seriously and to remind women that they do not have to face frightening health experiences alone.
For now, the Jersey Shore star says she is beginning to feel like herself again — while taking her recovery one day at a time.
