Off Campus Season 2: Mika Abdalla Teases Allie’s Emotional New Chapter

Off Campus Season 2: Mika Abdalla Teases Allie Hayes’ More Emotional Journey

Off Campus Season 2 is set to bring a different side of Allie Hayes to the screen, according to star Mika Abdalla.

The Prime Video series is moving its focus to Allie and Dean Di Laurentis after Season 1 centred on Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham. Abdalla, who plays Allie, has now offered a glimpse at what viewers can expect from her character in the upcoming season.

In a recent interview with Vogue India, Abdalla described the new season as more emotionally turbulent. She also suggested that while Allie will face heavier challenges, the personality that made the character popular with viewers will still be present.

Off Campus Season 2 puts Allie and Dean in the spotlight

Prime Video has confirmed that Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis will be the central couple of Season 2.

The storyline follows the direction of Elle Kennedy’s Off-Campus book series. Mika Abdalla returns as Allie, while Stephen Kalyn reprises his role as Dean.

Their relationship had already begun developing during the first season. However, Season 2 will give the pair much more room to explore their complicated romance.

The change also means that viewers will see Allie move beyond her role as Hannah’s energetic and supportive best friend.

Mika Abdalla says Allie’s story will be more emotionally turbulent

Abdalla recently discussed the upcoming season with Vogue India, explaining that the new episodes will have a different emotional tone.

The actress said the story is “a lot more emotionally turbulent”, meaning fans may see less of the carefree best-friend energy associated with Allie in Season 1.

However, that does not mean the character has completely changed.

Abdalla explained that she pays attention to the important character moments while continuing to include the qualities audiences already enjoy about Allie.

That balance could be particularly important as the character takes on a much larger role in the series.

Allie’s signature hair is staying

One familiar part of Allie’s appearance will remain unchanged: her long, curly hair.

Abdalla revealed that the hairstyle is actually her own haircut. She has had the look since moving to Los Angeles, making it a natural part of her appearance rather than a heavily constructed style created specifically for the show.

The actress has also joked about the difference between her real-life hair and Allie’s polished appearance.

So, while fans can expect changes in Allie’s emotional journey, her recognisable look is staying firmly in place.

What happened between Mika Abdalla and Jake Short?

Abdalla’s growing profile has also brought increased attention to her personal life.

The actress was previously engaged to actor Jake Short. The pair met while working on the 2022 film Sex Appeal and later began a relationship.

In June 2026, Abdalla’s representative confirmed to Us Weekly that the couple had ended their engagement. The statement said they remained on friendly terms and asked for privacy and respect.

The former couple later addressed renewed online discussion surrounding an older podcast clip. They said they had been in a loving and respectful relationship and objected to assumptions being made from the resurfaced footage.

Are Mika Abdalla and Josh Heuston dating?

Attention later shifted to Abdalla and her off-campus co-star Josh Heuston.

Heuston played Justin Kohl in Season 1. Although their characters were not the central romantic pairing, the two actors generated dating speculation during the show’s promotional period.

In June, Us Weekly reported that a source confirmed Abdalla and Heuston were dating, although representatives for the actors did not respond to requests for comment at the time.

More recently, the pair were photographed together in Vancouver displaying public affection. People reported that the actors were holding hands and sharing kisses during an August outing, giving further weight to the relationship reports.

The development has added another layer of fan interest around the Off Campus cast, particularly as Abdalla prepares to take on a much larger role in Season 2.

Who else is returning for Off Campus Season 2?

The second season will continue expanding the world of Briar University.

Alongside Abdalla and Kalyn, returning cast members include Ella Bright as Hannah Wells, Belmont Cameli as Garrett Graham, Antonio Cipriano as John Logan and Jalen Thomas Brooks as John Tucker.

Prime Video has also announced several new additions, including India Fowler as Grace Ivers, Phillipa Soo as Scarlett and Shay Rudolph as Summer Di Laurentis.

The series is based on Elle Kennedy’s popular Off-Campus novels and follows the relationships, friendships and personal struggles surrounding an elite university hockey team.

Josh Heuston’s Justin may have more story ahead

Although Justin was part of the first season’s romantic storyline, Heuston’s character is not expected to be a central part of Season 2.

Series creator Louisa Levy has previously indicated that Justin could potentially return in a future season because the character Stella, who becomes important to Justin in the books, has not yet appeared in the television adaptation.

For now, however, the show’s main romantic focus is firmly on Allie and Dean.

What to expect from Allie in Season 2

The biggest change for Allie appears to be the depth of her story.

Season 1 introduced her largely through her friendship with Hannah and her developing connection with Dean. The upcoming season will place those relationships under greater pressure while allowing the character to take centre stage.

Abdalla’s comments suggest that viewers should not expect Allie to lose the personality that made her popular. Instead, the character will have to navigate more complicated emotions while growing into the lead role.

That combination of familiar humour, emotional conflict and romance could make Allie’s story one of the major draws of Off Campus Season 2.

Prime Video has confirmed the second season and its central pairing, although viewers are still waiting for further details about the release schedule.
