Fans hoping to see Devi Vishwakumar again may not need to give up completely. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’s Never Have I Ever return is not completely off the table, but the actress says several things would have to fall into place first.

Ramakrishnan recently addressed the possibility of returning to the Netflix coming-of-age comedy. Her comments came during Netflix’s End of Summer Bash in Los Angeles on Aug. 13, 2026. She made it clear that she does not expect a comeback anytime soon.

Still, the actress left a small opening for the future.

Her main condition is simple: the story would have to be genuinely worth telling.

While fans continue to discuss a possible Maitreyi Ramakrishnan Never Have I Ever return, the actress is already building the next phase of her career.

Her upcoming Netflix film Best of the Best is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 18, 2026. Ramakrishnan stars alongside Priyanka Kedia and Hasan Minhaj in the comedy, which centres on two childhood friends who join a competitive Bollywood dance team in college.

The project gives Ramakrishnan a chance to lead a different kind of story.

It also places her in a setting that moves beyond the teenage world associated with Devi. Instead of high-school drama, Best of the Best focuses on friendship, young adulthood, competition and Bollywood fusion dance.

That makes the project another step in separating Ramakrishnan’s career from the character that made her famous.
