Elizabeth Holmes has shared a rare personal message from prison as attention returns to her Theranos case. The message comes just weeks before the release of the new documentary You Can See Everything.
Holmes, the former Theranos CEO, said she is continuing to fight to prove her innocence and return to her family. She also explained how her social-media accounts have been handled during her imprisonment.
The post comes at a notable time for Holmes. She is serving an 11-year-and-three-month federal prison sentence, while a new documentary about the period surrounding her imprisonment is set to arrive in theaters.
Elizabeth Holmes speaks directly to supporters
Holmes posted the message on X in late September. She said she had been “silenced” for a long period before being imprisoned.
She also described the length of her time behind bars, saying she had spent 1,216 days in prison.
Holmes said she remains focused on proving her innocence and returning to her two children and partner, Billy Evans.
She also credited her loved ones with helping manage her social-media presence while she has been incarcerated.
According to Holmes, future posts written directly by her will carry the initials “-EAH.” Other posts will continue to come from the people managing her account.
That distinction gives followers a way to identify which messages are written personally by Holmes.
Holmes continues to maintain her innocence
Holmes’ latest message repeats a position she has maintained since her criminal case.
A federal jury convicted her in January 2022 of one count of conspiracy to commit fraud against investors and three counts of wire fraud involving individual investors. She was acquitted of several patient-related charges, while the jury did not reach unanimous verdicts on some additional investor counts.
In November 2022, U.S. District Judge Edward Davila sentenced Holmes to 135 months, or 11 years and three months, in federal prison.
The U.S. Department of Justice said the convictions involved fraud against Theranos investors and wire transfers totaling more than $140 million.
Holmes began serving her sentence in 2023.
Elizabeth Holmes documentary arrives in October
The renewed attention surrounding Holmes also comes ahead of You Can See Everything, a documentary directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim.
According to A24, the film begins 34 days before Holmes was due to report to prison. The project ultimately developed into a much longer examination of Holmes and her life around that period.
The documentary is scheduled for theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
Its unusual production has already generated significant interest. The filmmakers kept the project largely secret before it was unexpectedly presented at the Telluride Film Festival in September.
A24 later released a trailer, bringing the documentary to a wider audience.
What is You Can See Everything about?
The documentary focuses on Holmes shortly before she began her federal prison sentence.
Rather than being a traditional retrospective about Theranos, the film follows Holmes and the people around her during an important period in her life.
The project was directed by Fielder and Oppenheim. A24 is distributing the film.
The documentary’s official synopsis describes a film crew documenting Holmes’ life shortly before she entered prison, with the story eventually extending across three years.
That timeline gives the project a broader scope than the original setup suggested.
Holmes’ planned halfway-house move
The new message also comes after news about Holmes’ future custody status.
Recent reporting says Holmes is scheduled to move from Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas to a halfway house in 2027.
Variety reported that her approved transfer is scheduled for August 2027. She is also currently projected to be released from federal custody in February 2030, according to reporting based on federal custody information.
The halfway-house move does not mean Holmes has completed her sentence. It would represent a change in the way she serves the remainder of her federal sentence.
Why Elizabeth Holmes is back in the spotlight
Several developments have brought renewed attention to Holmes in September 2026.
Her direct message to supporters offers a rare look at how she describes her life in prison. At the same time, the upcoming documentary introduces new footage from the period before her incarceration.
The planned halfway-house transfer has also added another current development to the long-running Theranos story.
Together, these events have brought Holmes’ case back into entertainment and news coverage more than a decade after Theranos became one of Silicon Valley’s most closely watched startups.
What happens next for Elizabeth Holmes?
For now, Holmes remains in federal custody while preparing for her planned transfer in 2027.
Meanwhile, You Can See Everything is scheduled to reach theaters on October 16.
The documentary is expected to add another perspective to the public record surrounding Holmes, Theranos and the events that preceded her imprisonment.
Holmes, however, continues to publicly dispute the government’s account of her conduct and says she is fighting to prove her innocence.
