Patrick Clancy has spoken publicly for the first time since the murder trial of his former wife, Lindsay Clancy, ended in a mistrial.
During a September 20 interview with CBS News’ 60 Minutes, Clancy discussed the loss of his three children, the emotional toll of testifying in court and the intense scrutiny he faced online. He also described having a traumatic panic attack during the trial.
The interview gave Clancy an opportunity to discuss what happened to his family while also explaining how he has tried to move forward after the deaths of Cora, Dawson and Callan.
Patrick Clancy Describes His Panic Attack During the Trial
One of the most emotional moments of the interview came when Clancy recalled taking the witness stand during Lindsay Clancy’s trial.
He said he knew the courtroom would play the 911 call he made after discovering his children. Before the recording was played, Clancy left the courtroom and experienced what he described as a massive traumatic panic attack.
He said his heart was pounding and that he was taken to an ambulance. Although medication was offered, Clancy declined because he wanted to return to court and finish his testimony.
He ultimately went back inside and continued testifying.
The moment highlighted the personal toll of a trial that required Clancy to publicly revisit one of the most painful events of his life.
The Lindsay Clancy Trial Ended in a Mistrial
Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial began in Massachusetts in July 2026. Her defence argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and should not be held criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children.
The prosecution presented a different account of the events and argued that Clancy was responsible for the killings.
After days of deliberations, the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4.
According to AP, 11 jurors believed Clancy was not criminally responsible because of mental illness, while one juror disagreed. The case therefore remains unresolved, and prosecutors have not announced whether they will seek another trial.
Patrick Clancy Talks About Losing His Children
The tragedy began in January 2023, when Clancy’s three children — Cora, Dawson and Callan — were killed.
During his 60 Minutes interview, Clancy spoke about the days immediately following the incident and especially remembered his youngest child, Callan.
According to CBS News, Callan survived for four days after the attack. Clancy said he held his son during those final days and hoped he would survive.
He also described writing tributes to his children while holding Callan’s hand. He said he wanted to preserve their memories and make sure they would not be forgotten.
Clancy Says Grief Changed His Life
After the deaths of his children, Clancy said his daily life effectively stopped.
He eventually moved from Massachusetts to New York City, where he hoped to have more privacy while grieving.
In the interview, he described finding small ways to remain connected to his children. He kept some of their belongings, including toys and other personal items, in his apartment.
Clancy has also supported efforts to remember the children in their Massachusetts community. A new playground in Duxbury includes features connected to Cora, Dawson and Callan.
Patrick Clancy Says He Forgave Lindsay
Clancy also addressed one of the most difficult parts of his story: his feelings toward Lindsay.
He said he chose to forgive her. Clancy has previously explained that he believes mental illness played a central role in what happened.
During the 60 Minutes interview, he said he did not want anger and resentment to consume the rest of his life.
His comments reflect his personal perspective on an unresolved criminal case. Lindsay Clancy’s defence has argued that postpartum psychosis affected her ability to understand her actions, while the prosecution has challenged that account.
Patrick Clancy Responds to Online Conspiracy Theories
The trial also generated intense discussion on social media.
Clancy said he became the subject of online theories that questioned his role in the deaths of his children. He rejected those allegations and described the speculation as harmful.
He argued that the online focus distracted from the larger issue he believes deserves attention: perinatal mental health.
CBS News reported that Clancy has spoken with mental-health professionals and people connected with Postpartum Support International as he has tried to understand what happened to his family.
Rachel Danis Joins Patrick Clancy in the Interview
Clancy appeared on 60 Minutes with his wife, Dr Rachel Danis.
The couple met in New York after Clancy moved there. Danis is a fertility specialist, and the pair eventually developed a relationship before marrying earlier in 2026.
During the interview, they discussed grief, rebuilding their lives and how they continue to remember Clancy’s children.
The couple also revealed that they are starting a family. Clancy said he hopes to tell his future child about Cora, Dawson and Callan and preserve their place in the family’s story.
What Happens Next in the Lindsay Clancy Case?
The legal case is not over.
The September mistrial means there was no final verdict in the murder prosecution. Reuters reported that prosecutors had not decided whether to pursue a retrial, leaving the next major legal step uncertain.
For now, Patrick Clancy’s 60 Minutes appearance has shifted attention away from courtroom arguments and toward his personal experience with grief, trauma and rebuilding his life.
The interview also brought renewed attention to perinatal mental health, an issue that has remained central to the legal arguments surrounding the case.
