Kelly Osbourne Opens Up About Life After Ozzy Osbourne’s Death

Kelly Osbourne Opens Up About Life After Ozzy Osbourne’s Death

Kelly Osbourne has opened up about the difficult period following her father Ozzy Osbourne’s death, revealing how her family spent the first days grieving together and how an outpouring of support from fans helped them cope.

More than a year after the Black Sabbath icon died, Kelly reflected on the experience in a new interview with Hello!. Her comments offer a deeply personal look at the family’s grief and the lasting impact of losing one of rock music’s most recognisable figures.

Kelly Osbourne Reflects on Her Father’s Final Days

Kelly explained that the family chose to keep Ozzy close to them after his death rather than immediately placing him in a mortuary.

According to Kelly, her father was brought home, allowing the family to spend several days together as they mourned and made arrangements according to their wishes.

For Kelly, those early days were an important part of saying goodbye.

The experience also came at a time when the Osbourne family was receiving messages of sympathy from fans around the world.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Fans Became a Source of Comfort

Kelly said the response from Ozzy’s fans played an important role in helping her family through their grief.

Flowers, cards, gifts and personal messages arrived for the family following the rock star’s death. Kelly said the family made an effort to acknowledge as many of those gestures as possible.

She described the support as something that helped the family through an extremely painful period.

The reaction also reinforced the unique relationship Ozzy had with his audience. His career stretched across decades, first with Black Sabbath and later as a solo performer, giving him generations of devoted fans.

Kelly Osbourne Says Grief Changed Her

While discussing her life after Ozzy’s death, Kelly acknowledged that she struggled significantly with both her mental and physical well-being.

Rather than describing grief as something she simply learned to manage, she said she was not in a healthy place during the earliest part of the process.

Kelly added that she is doing better and has received support from the people around her.

Her comments highlight how complicated grief can be, particularly after the loss of an immediate family member. For Kelly, the death of her father was not simply the loss of a famous musician. It changed her understanding of her own life and family.

Ozzy’s Birmingham Roots Remain Important to Kelly

Kelly also spoke proudly about her father’s connection to Birmingham, England.

Ozzy was born and raised in the Birmingham area and became one of the city’s most internationally recognised musicians. Black Sabbath was formed in Birmingham in the late 1960s and went on to become one of the foundational bands of heavy metal.

That connection became particularly meaningful during the period surrounding Ozzy’s death.

Thousands of fans gathered in Birmingham following his passing, while locations associated with the singer and Black Sabbath became places for public tributes. AP reported that fans visited landmarks connected to Ozzy and the band after his death.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Death Came Weeks After His Farewell Performance

Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76.

His death came only weeks after what became his final live performance in Birmingham. On July 5, Ozzy appeared at Villa Park for the “Back to the Beginning” event, performing from a throne because of his health problems.

The show also featured a reunion of Black Sabbath’s original members: Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. AP reported that the reunion marked their first joint performance in two decades.

The performance became an emotional farewell for both Ozzy and his fans.

According to a death certificate reported by AP, Ozzy died from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and acute myocardial infarction, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction listed among the joint causes.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Legacy Lives On

Ozzy’s influence extended far beyond his work with Black Sabbath.

As the band’s original lead singer, he helped establish a sound that became central to heavy metal. Black Sabbath’s early albums, including Black Sabbath and Paranoid, helped define the genre.

His solo career later produced major hits such as “Crazy Train”, while his family became familiar to television audiences through the reality series The Osbournes.

His cultural impact was also reflected in the tributes that followed his death. Musicians including Elton John, Questlove, Rod Stewart and others publicly remembered the singer and his contribution to music.

Kelly Osbourne Wants to Keep Her Father’s Memory Alive

For Kelly, Ozzy’s legacy is ultimately personal.

She has described her father not only as a legendary musician but also as someone deeply connected to his hometown and family.

Her reflections suggest that the grieving process is still ongoing. More than a year after his death, she continues to adjust to life without him while finding ways to preserve his memory.

Ozzy Osbourne’s career may have made him an international rock icon, but Kelly’s comments show another side of his legacy — the father remembered by his children and the hometown figure remembered by generations of fans.
