Bobbi Althoff is setting the record straight about her religious background ahead of her reality TV debut on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County.
The podcaster and social media personality recently addressed questions about her connection to the Mormon church. In an Instagram Story posted September 29, Althoff said she is not Mormon, although she has a family connection to the faith and had some exposure to the church while growing up.
Her comments come as interest builds around Hulu’s upcoming Orange County expansion of the Mormon Wives franchise.
Bobbi Althoff says she is not Mormon
Althoff directly addressed her religious background in an Instagram Story.
She explained that she is not Mormon but has a brother who is Mormon. She also said that she attended a Mormon church only a couple of times while growing up.
The clarification is relevant because Althoff is joining a franchise strongly associated with Mormon culture and the social-media community known as MomTok.
However, Hulu’s official cast guide describes the Orange County spinoff as an expansion of the MomTok universe, bringing together creators from a different community in California.
Althoff grew up in a Christian household
Althoff has previously spoken about her childhood and religious upbringing.
During a 2024 appearance on Rainn Wilson’s Soul Boom podcast, she described her family as Christian. She also discussed how religion was viewed in her household and how her father’s approach to faith influenced her experience.
Her views later changed.
During her marriage to Cory Althoff, Bobbi said she stopped being religious because religion was not a significant part of their life together. The couple divorced in 2024.
Why Bobbi Althoff returned to church
Following her divorce, Althoff said she began reconnecting with religion.
She explained that the difficult period led her back to church. She also described believing in something greater than herself that could provide comfort and a sense of connection.
Her comments suggest that her current relationship with religion is more personal than an identification with the Mormon faith.
Bobbi Althoff joins the Orange County spinoff
Althoff is among the creators joining The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County.
According to Hulu, the spinoff expands the franchise beyond the original Utah-based MomTok group. Its cast includes Althoff, Aspyn Ovard, Avery Woods and several other Orange County creators. OG MomToker Jen Affleck is also part of the new series.
Althoff became widely known online for her deadpan interview style and The Really Good Podcast. Hulu describes her as a creator who originally built an audience through motherhood-related content and later expanded her profile through celebrity interviews.
Not every cast member identifies as Mormon
Althoff is not the only Orange County cast member whose relationship with Mormonism differs from the traditional image associated with the franchise.
Avery Woods has previously described herself as being outside the Mormon faith. Meanwhile, Aspyn Ovard has spoken about being baptized and growing up in a Mormon-adjacent environment without identifying herself as Mormon.
That makes the Orange County series somewhat different from a simple continuation of the original cast.
Instead, Hulu is using the franchise to explore another group of creators whose social circles and experiences intersect with the broader MomTok world.
When does ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County’ premiere?
Hulu has confirmed that The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County is coming to the streaming service in late 2026. Hulu’s official cast guide identifies Althoff as part of the new series.
The September 29 report from E! News states that the spinoff is scheduled to premiere on November 12, 2026.
The new show will expand the Mormon Wives universe while introducing viewers to a new group of California-based creators.
