Jenelle Evans homeschooling her kids has become the latest update from the former Teen Mom star, who says her two younger children are now learning online instead of attending traditional school.

Evans, 34, shared the decision in an Instagram video on August 26. She explained that Kaiser Griffith, 12, and Ensley Eason, 9, are enrolled with Acellus Academy, an accredited online school.

According to Evans, the move was influenced by several factors. She pointed to repeated bullying involving Kaiser, her own struggles with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and the difficulty of transporting the children to school each day.

Evans said there was more than one reason behind her decision.

One of the biggest concerns was what she described as ongoing bullying experienced by Kaiser. She said he had dealt with bullying in both Las Vegas and North Carolina before facing similar problems again after starting at another school.

Evans specifically said the bullying had mainly involved comments about her son’s weight.

Rather than continuing with another traditional school arrangement, she decided to move Kaiser and Ensley to online education.

Her choice also comes after the family relocated from Las Vegas to Florida, according to recent reports. That change has added another layer of adjustment for the family.

Jenelle Evans Says Her CRPS Diagnosis Also Played a Role

Evans also connected her education decision to her recent diagnosis of complex regional pain syndrome, or CRPS.

CRPS is a chronic pain condition that can cause intense pain, sensitivity, swelling and changes in skin temperature or colour. It commonly affects an arm, hand, leg or foot, although symptoms can vary. The National Institutes of Health’s MedlinePlus describes CRPS as a condition that can cause pain that is much more intense than expected after an injury.

For Evans, the condition has made the daily school commute difficult.

She said the children’s school was about 40 minutes away and that driving them to and from school took a significant portion of her day. Evans explained that her pain made those repeated trips increasingly difficult.

As a result, online education gives the family a schedule that does not depend on daily school transportation.

Kaiser and Ensley Are Using Acellus Academy

Evans clarified that she is not personally acting as her children’s traditional classroom teacher.

Instead, Kaiser and Ensley are studying through Acellus Academy, an online K-12 private school based in Kansas City, Missouri.

Acellus Academy says it offers a fully accredited online school programme for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The school states that it is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

The programme also offers self-paced courses, meaning students can work through lessons according to their individual progress rather than following a conventional classroom schedule.

Acellus Academy specifically promotes online education as an option for families seeking alternatives to traditional schools, including families dealing with bullying, medical needs or a need for greater flexibility.

How Are Kaiser and Ensley Adjusting to Online School?

So far, Evans says the transition has gone smoothly.

She reported that the children had completed their schoolwork during their first week without major complaints. According to Evans, they were finishing their daily work in roughly two hours.

She also said she remains nearby when they need help.

The early experience appears to have reinforced one of the reasons she wanted a more flexible arrangement. Instead of spending hours on transportation, the children can complete their lessons from home.

However, Evans’ comments reflect her personal experience and should not be taken as evidence that online schooling will produce the same results for every student.

Evans Says Homeschooling Gives Her More Flexibility

Another advantage Evans highlighted is flexibility.

With the children learning online, she said they can potentially accompany her when she travels. That would be more difficult with a conventional school schedule.

She also said being involved in their education gives her a clearer understanding of what they are learning.

Acellus Academy’s own materials describe its courses as self-paced and say families can use the platform for primary schooling or individual courses.

For Evans, that combination of flexibility, home-based learning and reduced transportation appears to be central to the new arrangement.

What About Jenelle Evans’ Other Son, Jace?

Jenelle Evans is also the mother of Jace Evans, 17, whom she shares with ex Andrew Lewis.

Her current homeschooling announcement concerns Kaiser and Ensley, rather than Jace.

Recent reporting has noted that Jace has been living with Evans’ mother, Barbara Evans, and attending high school separately.

That means Evans’ latest education decision does not represent a homeschooling change for all three of her children.

The decision marks another change for the Teen Mom alum and her family.

Evans has recently moved from Las Vegas to Florida, while she is also managing the challenges associated with her reported CRPS diagnosis.

For now, Evans says the new arrangement is working well. Whether the family continues with online education long-term remains to be seen.
