A new LaToya Malcolm scholarship will help two high school students in Jamaica following the death of the former Miss Universe Jamaica contestant.
The LaToya Malcolm Scholarship for Resilience was announced during Malcolm’s funeral service in Kingston on Saturday, August 22.
Delano Seiveright, Minister of State in Jamaica’s Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, announced the scholarship during the service. According to the Jamaica Observer, two high school students will each receive $100,000 to support their educational development.
The announcement gives Malcolm’s name a lasting connection to education. It also reflects the resilience that became part of her story during her career and personal life.

Malcolm died on July 17, 2026, at the age of 35.
